Unique format announced for Outlaw
Late Model racing at the Boyne at Berlin
Jenison, MI (February 4, 2008) – Race organizers for the highly anticipated Boyne at Berlin Presented by Wolverine Power Systems, have just announced how the Outlaw Late Model field will be formatted during the two-day show, featuring the best of the Berlin ‘Hometown’ Late Model field, as well as the top ‘Out of Town’ teams from around the Midwest.
The unique shape and attitude that the 7/16 mile Berlin Raceway carries has often caused ‘Out of Town’ teams to stay away. While the track will be the same come September 12 & 13, the format will be greatly different than the typical Saturday night qualifying format.
Friday night September 12th will see an action packed lineup of events, including two-separate Outlaw Late Model feature events! All of the Outlaw Late Model teams will qualify together on Friday afternoon, but will not see the track together again until Saturday. Any driver that has placed in the top 20 in Berlin Raceway Late Model points at any time over the past five seasons is qualified as a ‘Hometown’ driver. All others will be considered ‘Out of Towner’s’.
Hometown’ teams will run their feature event which will be 40 laps in distance paying $1,200.00 to win. This feature event will award points towards the season long championship battle, as well as set the inside ten rows for the 100 lap feature event on Saturday night.
‘Out of Town’ teams will run a separate 40 lap feature, also paying $1,200.00 to win and will form the outside ten rows for Saturday. This will allow teams a chance to showcase their talents to expected packed grandstands, as well as a guaranteed starting position in the big Boyne Machine 100 lap non-points-paying feature slated for Saturday night under the lights. The top 10 finishers from each Outlaw Late Model feature will make up the inside and outside rows respectively, all gunning for the $7,500.00 to win!
With a limited amount of practice time available for all the competing divisions on Friday, the Berlin Raceway will be open on Thursday September 11 from 4:00 – 9:00pm EST. A detailed rundown of payout, schedule of events, and more information will be released soon. Check the event website for updated news and information, at www.BoyneAtBerlin.com.
